Guinea Pig Product Life Saver

Hey guys! This blog post is going to be a little different. As you guys know from my New Year’s post I have a pet guinea pig. I have been using this product for a few months now, just restocked my supply, and I thought I should tell you guys about it. Hey, some of you guys could be guinea pig owners and this maybe a big help!

It is the Vitakraft Super Absorbent Cage Liners! During the summer I discovered that you could line you guinea pig’s cage with these papers so that your guinea will not stain the bottom of the bin and or container. It also cuts down on the smell. I was in Pet Smart and the price of the liners were way too expensive.  I told my mom about it and we found cheaper versions, which are these! We tried them out and the clean up was SIGNIFICANTLY shorter. It no longer takes me thirty minutes to scrub and wipe down the container every week. Now it takes more like ten minutes.

I pick up the liner with the dirty bedding dump it in a trash bag, do a quick wipe down of the bin, place a new liner in, put new bedding on top, place her toys and house, and I am done in ten minutes! I usually use 1½ liners because I have a slightly larger cage. I staple the two ends together like so (see picture) and then place tape together and over the staple cause my guinea pig tends to pick at EVERYTHING! I completely cover the bottom and usually have some extra coverage left over so that soiled bedding doesn’t get under it.

Here’s what the cage looks like freshly cleaned and once I finally put her back in. Yes she loves her basketball like ME! If you have a guinea pig I totally recommend this product. I keeps down the smell and makes cleaning so EASY! Til next time!
